y's help unexpected, scarce??????

I've always had a habit of sleeping on transport.... 1 night last week, probably thursday night i think, on my way home via mtr, trying to dose suddenly felt the guy 2 seats away from me (almost last train, thus seats very sparse and no one sitting between us...) is somewhat bleeding... i peek at him n saw him pressing tissues against his palm.... not bleeding very badly but could see that it wasn't stopping either.... n he was really uncomfy, like at a loss of what to do... thus i just naturally digged into my wallet for a bandage and passed to him.... he looked so stunned n surprised that i started to question if i were doing something wrong???

what is it about this world that we are now in that just a simple gesture like this would make the other party stunned.... ain't everyone supposed to be trying to help another in need? is it only HK or the whole world.... i really don't understand... y had man lose that warmth in them to help others??? sigh....

tonight, in jusco "fighting for discounted sushi", there's this guy (middle age) beside me, holding to a mountain of 5~7 packs of sushi n trying to make a call home (i think).... its rather comical watching him trying to balance the sushi n his phone, then the top pack unbalanced n u could c that all's going to fall soon, thus i just naturally reached out and replace the "runaway" for him.... again that stunned, surprised look like he didn't expect any help, that he expected everything to just fall.... y? y's everyone so self-centered now? so much so that help is such a surprise and unexpected.... y do we always expects to only depend on ourselves in times of trouble... is help to be scarce? if the world that we are currently in is already like this, so self-centered, so selfish, what about the future? would it be better or worse?

or maybe i should just stop being a busy body, n be like everyone else, just watch other misfalls lo.... :<

Would you sympathize with her if she got into trouble?

was going home via bus the other night, probably around 2+am, when this girl board the bus wearing a "drop-shoulder" whitish top, see-thru, tight short jeans skirt... just when i'm about to alight, i noticed this same girl coming down the stairs for the upper level, with the skirt's "split" in between her tights... my god, i could almost see her undies... n i thought to myself, "what the hell" doesn't she know what time it is, she's really asking for trouble man.... I thought probably after she got off the bus, she would probably adjust her skirt to the decent state thus out of curiosity, i watched her (as we got off at the same stop, she b4 me) but she didn't adjust or anything, just walked....

i've never been a conventional person but with all the "rapes" n murders rate going up, n in the middle of the night, my thought were that if something should really happened to her that night, she's asking for it lo.... she would definitely not be getting my sympathy lo... sigh... really don't know what this world's coming to lo... or am i just getting old?

was on the mtr today when i suddenly hear sound of liquid splashing and see people getting out of their seats and moving away.... within seconds, the area emptied and i realized that a guy was vomiting near the last door between the "car"... a friend's with him and they immediately got off the next stop - north point.... the "scene" was really gross.... he must have really felt very unwell but he looked quite alright when he got off.... when i got off @ quarry bay, i noticed that the train's # D614 and we were in car #6 near #5... don't know why, just felt that someone should inform the station about what had just happened esp. with swine flu n all... probably they need to do some special cleaning or something but couldn't find anyone around.... thus got to exit n inform the cs there.... hopefully i wasn't making a mountain out of nothing but during times like this its best to be safe isn't it??? though not sure if they (mtr) would really take notice n do something about it but at least i've done my part.... :D

Not sure if I did a good deed or the right thing but all that matters is... I feel good about it.... haha....

Irritated....

God! Some people r just too much.... I'm @ mac now having breakfast n the old man sitting @ the table beside me, actually dare to pretend, pretend n then sit between his n my table n started reading the newspaper by putting each of his hands on both my n his table respectively.... I just can't stand this type of deliberate behaviour lo.... Mac table already very small, we r both paying customer n yet for his own comfort, he just take advantage of me lo.... god... so i very bad la, i just pretend to need to use my pc, n needed to adjust my table for use and thus force him to remove his hands from my table... haha... Maybe I'm just sleepy la, so in a lousy n irritatable mood lo... sigh... people....

【HK】14 y/o manslaughter, 17 y/o rapist

Background Story: New born baby boy found with half skull missing, multiply fractures, suspected to be thrown out of a 24th floor window shortly after born (at home). 14 y/o mum held for manslaughter and father suspected to be 17 y/o rapist with previous offenses such as violence, rape, sex with pre-mature girls.

Another tragedy. What's becoming of HK? Or shall I ask, what's becoming of the world, current society? Had it always been like this? Was I just unaware of it? 14 y/o and 17 y/o, they are still so young? What would become of them in years to come? Especially the mum, won't she regret her actions in the forthcoming years?

【HK】Mum threw kids out of window before jumping to death…

A tragedy that shakes and shocks Hong Kong!

Background story: In the middle of night, in the middle of sleep, mum moved towards her children, tied and threw both her kids (first daughter (12 y/o) then son (9 y/o) ) out of their 24th floor apartment before jumping to her death... Family’s from mainland china, dad said to be a gambler who’s in hospital for cancer treatment during incident.

Tragedies happen but with the style of news reporting in Hong Kong in recent years, endless suicides, accidents, casualties and deaths, I (like most people in Hong Kong) am more or less numb to this kind of news… (In fact, I give up on reading the newspapers or even listening to news reports…) But this tragedy still managed to shock me to the core… To me, the horror’s not in suicide or throwing the kids out of the window (there’s been numerous cases of parents taking their kids with them in suicides) but in tying them up in their sleep before throwing them out… This signifies that they’ve probably woke up, struggled and thus resulted in being tied… Imagine the fear, the panic and the horror… Imagine a mum doing that to her own kids… Kids that she given birth to and took care of since babies… If you can’t trust your mum, who else can you trust?

【HK】Prepaid SIM Card providing WIFI access...

With references to my previous blog: Internet access in HK..., I've just discovered that PCCW had just release a new prepaid SIM card (PCCW "All-in-1" Communications SIM Card) that allows local calls, roaming, IDD and WIFI... This is really great news as the prepaid internet card mentioned earlier in Internet access in HK... is not really that accessible as its often not available in 7-eleven but now with this new SIM card (PCCW "All-in-1" Communications SIM Card), WIFI would definitely be more accessible....

【HK】Stopped by the police tonight...

On my way home tonight, I was stopped by the police... Asking to see my ID card... This is not the first time I'm stopped by the police to check ID, in HK, this is very common practice... But the most unusual thing about this "check" is that while I'm getting my ID, he asked where I'm going, am I working, working as what, then when I passed him my ID, he just took it, flip it over and return to me without even calling back to HQ to check... Maybe I'm being thick-skin but felt that he's main purpose was just to stop me to chat and not to check...

Anyway, whatever you do, while traveling in HK, remember to bring your identity documents...

【HK】Internet access in HK...

No matter you are a local or a traveler in HK, if you don't need 24x7 daily internet access, if you just need to check your email a couple of hours a day or even once every couple of days, maybe the following might work for you as it's working for me...

Free internet access

There are actually places in HK that offers free internet access as long as you know where to find them... Of 'coz some of these place excise constraints as to what you can download or even where you can surf but if you have a laptop like I do, then the IFC in central or the airport are some of the best choices for you 'coz its free there and there's no constraints (as far as I'm aware of at this moment) and thus your only constraint would be how long could your battery last, that's all...

Mine last 2 hrs, thus I would usually reply all my emails offline and type out the blogs that I would like to send out at home on ac power, thus I'm usually only retrieving emails, surfing the net and amending my blogs when I'm in IFC... This arrangement works very well for me 'coz I'm the kind that once concentrating on something, would forget the time and thus with the battery running out, it would distract me from the computer and thus assist me in better managing my time as I've got only limited amount of time to work in... But if you are traveling in HK and didn't have a laptop with you, you could actually access your emails from pacific coffee and starbucks (found almost all over HK) but of 'coz you would have to first buy a drink...

The other place where you can go would be the libraries... Most (if not all) libraries in HK offer free internet access via the library computer but of 'coz there's constraint as to where you can surf and what you can download... You can also bring your own laptop to the library for free internet access but do remember to bring a broadband cable with you and the best thing about using your own laptop in the library is that you are allowed to plug-in your laptop, thus you would be able to work all day as long as you remember to bring your power cords.... But the disadvantage of working in the library is, remember its the library and thus library rules such as no eating, no drinking, staying quiet and etc applies... If you are comfortable in libraries and to avoid disappointments of no available slots, try the central library in causeway bay which is the biggest in HK... Remember to check the opening hours before going... But if you are the kind that needs to eat and drink while working, then maybe library would not be your best choice...

Prepaid internet card

Actually several ISP in HK offers mobile broadband in HK and my favorite is this prepaid internet access card that just been released... Payment for most mobile broadband services in HK is via credit cards and offered in places such as MacDonald, KFC, starbucks, pacific coffee and etc... But for those of us who feel uncomfortable using credit card over the internet in such open areas, we could actually purchase this prepaid card from 7-eleven... There are 2 kinds of cards offered by PCCW, one 24hr card @ HK$20 and the other 30-day card @ HK178... I would usually keep a card with me as a backup but if I foresee that I would actually be needing internet access for more that 8 days consecutively, then I would get a 30-day card instead of a 24-hr card... But actually up to this moment, I've yet foresee this need....

Thus traveling in HK, you no longer need to control yourself due to hotel high internet cost... Hopefully this information would be useful to you as its been to me...

像樹熊的小朋友？

走在街上，遇到一位女士把懷裡的小朋友放下，讓他自己走。小朋友大概只有兩三歲，但卻讓我想起了之前抱樹熊的經驗。小朋友大概比較膽小，怕跌到，即使是雙腳已經著地，手還是緊緊地抓著女士的衣裳不放，直到女士輕聲的向他說些甚麼，才肯放手。

記得之前抱樹熊的時候，最深的感覺就是："這樹熊好膽小！抓的好緊啊！"就好像深怕我會
一個不小心就把它跌在地上，所以雙'手'就死命的抓著我。即使是訓練員把它接回時，它
也是卻定不會跌到後才肯放開緊抓著我的'手'。

被緊緊抱著、抓著的感覺，很溫心，很難忘。雖然事隔多年，每當想起還是會恛心一笑。
